Introduction
The Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth device described on another page is a very nice device for both handsfree calling and high quality audio streaming. If you have factory Bluetooth for handsfree calling, you don't need a second Bluetooth device for that function - you can't beat the OEM solution. So you may be looking for a Bluetooth device that only does audio streaming that's simpler and less expensive. While the Kinivo device isn't expensive, I just picked up this Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth adapter from Amazon for a whopping $18 bucks:
It's a small device that is super simple to install and use:
Plug it in to your console power port and the auxiliary input in your car with a simple patch cable. It comes with a coiled cable, but it's pretty long so I used a shorter one:
The device has a built-in USB charging port for connecting a mobile phone and a blue button for pairing:
If your Vette doesn't have a console auxiliary input port, you can install one using one of my harnesses described on my website.
It's easy to pair the device with your phone. Immediately your phone is heard clearly over your audio system.
In testing it in my own Vette, I compared the sound to the Kinivo BTC450. Both are very high quality audio devices, although I noticed just a bit of background hum when no music was playing and the radio volume was turned up high. When music was playing, I could hear no hum. Often hum can be eliminated with the use of an inexpensive noise isolator, using costing around $10 or so. If you feel you need one, you just plug the isolator in between the Bluetooth device and the auxiliary input port.
There are likely lots of similar Bluetooth audio streaming devices out there to choose from. For the price, this one is pretty decent.
